It is the beginning of spring, it is March 3, and this year it seems we are lucky and the weekend will be with sun and decent temperatures. This year, Andrei and I set out to develop our offroad skills so it’s a good opportunity to get started.

I initially said we would go to the offroad polygon used by many motorcycle schools in Bucharest, located between Theodor Pallady Boulevard and Splaiul Unirii, somewhere in the area of high voltage lines. Once here we found that it is full of hardeners and I said that there is no point in confusing them so we decided to go further to explore the road that follows the left bank of Dâmboviţa starting from the ring road.

The first part of about 1.5Km is concrete, then the road is becoming off-road.

It goes right on the bank of Dâmboviţa, the road is relatively good, but from time to time you will encounter muddy areas and ditches made by the wheels of cars and tractors.

Unfortunately, until we pass the village of Bălăceanca, we will not get rid of the garbage thrown on the roadside.

Next to Fundeni village, you will cross the county road 100 and you will realize that there is a bridge over Dâmbovița here.

Here, about 200m to the right there is another ad-hoc polygon setup for of-road enthusiasts, also known as the Groapa Fundeni.

From this bridge the road is predominantly used by agricultural machinery and becomes narrower and somewhat faster to travel. As a level, the terrain and the road slowly descend below the level of the river so the road and the watercourse begin to be separated by a dam.

Just before the village of Popești, we came across a winding road up a hill near a forest, and since the sun was approaching the horizon so we decided to take that road and return to Bucharest.

For anyone who wants, you can continue until the Dâmboviţa river flows into the Argeș river or even to the Danube.

Attention!, As I said, the road has no stone, so if the rain catches you it will probably become a real muddy road.
