T01 Doubletrans
Day 1:
On the first day we will leave from Bucharest on the A1 motorway, then at Pitești we will enter DN 7C, which is the road to Transfagarasan. A first stop can be made at the Curtea de Argeș to visit the monastery with the same name. Then, at the entrance to Transfagarasan, a mandatory stop is the fortress of Poienari, which it is said that inspired the Bram Stoker, Dracula’s castle. Here after a rather tiring ascent to the fortress you will be able to admire the scenic road that climbs to Vidraru dam. From now until the evening we have all the time to enjoy Transfagarasan. In the evening you can stay at Cârțișoara where you can find some nice accommodations to stay.
Day 2:
The next day we will start with visiting the tourist attractions in the Sibiu area, then we will go to Sebeș where Transalpina starts. We have enough time to stop at Taul Bistra Dam or Lake Oașa because in the evening when traffic is reduced we can ride on the most spectacular part of Transalpina, namely the segment between Obârșia Lotrului and Rânca.
Day 3:
The third day begins with the descent from Rânca towards Novaci and then we will visit the 2 caves in the area: Polovragi and Muierii Cave. If you haven’t visited it until now you can stop also at the Horezu monastery on the way. The last part of the road is named The Black Hill and it is a twisty road that stretches between Râmnicu Vâlcea and Pitești.
