With a length of approximately 29Km, this road, in proportion of 70% is unpaved, offers a small adventure in the wonderful landscape of the hilly area between the Bucegi Mountains and the Piatra Craiului Mountains.

Starting in Zărnești, from the center you will have to follow the indicator to Măgura.

The asphalt ends at the exit of the city and you will enter a fairly wide forest road with many pits formed due to the relatively intense traffic. The road climbs smoothly and with wide curves about 2km, to an intersection where you will have to turn left on the uphill road.

In this area it is always full of parked cars and people go out to the barbecue, so be careful because the road is narrow and people are very inattentive.

There is a steep ascent up to Măgura with some hairpins from 850m to 1030m altitude in 2.5 km. The surface of the road is relatively ok without many slopes or areas with low grip . Once in Măgura we reach an intersection where we turn right towards the Pestera village.

From here to the Pestera  the road is a little narrower and more rugged than what we have experienced so far. There are about 2-3 narrower curves, and areas where the road surface is more rugged but with a little attention you will pass smoothly over this area.

Once you reach the village of Pestera , we hit the asphalt and this will be until we descend to Moieciu de Jos, so you will have enough time to relax before starting the ascent to Măgura.

The ascent back to Măgura starts with a relatively straight area, with a not very steep slope. then we will go through a slightly more technical area until we reach a mobile phone relay.

From here the road is ok and until the intersection where we turned right towards Pestera it will be easy to travel especially since some areas have started to improve, so the road surface will be smoother and wider.

From Măgura we will again enter the road that we have climbed but this time we will do it the other way, downstream, from where we know what awaits us.

This route could normally be done in an hour but it will probably take a lot longer because there are many areas where you will want to stop and take pictures … the scenery is superb so you will not endure without stopping.
