If you go on the road from Valea Uzului, a few kilometers upstream from the tail of the accumulation lake, there is a road that crosses from North to South the Nemira mountains. The road climbs smoothly to just over 1000m altitude and then descends quickly to the village of Lutoasa on an asphalt road.
This segment is part of TET Romania. We ride it coming from Valea Uzului. The route can be divided into two parts. The first and longest part is mainly through the forest on the bank of a river. From place to place we cross some sunny meadows. There are about 20km in which we will climb from 580m altitude to almost 1000m. The road is generally good, without too many bumps, and it is mostly well paved. There are also parts where mud can form but not very difficult to cross.
The second part of the road is the one over 1000m altitude. Here we will leave the forest and we’ll cross a relatively horizontal plateau area. On this part there are portions with a kind of sandy soil so it can be slippery.
This road crosses a good area for off-road enthusiasts. Especially in the plateau area, there are many other roads that lead to it and you can explore if time allows you.
