The first day of spring… 2020. It was a mild winter so we wanted to try a more spectacular unpaved road. We choose the hill area near Câmpina for a first tour. We still have road tires on our bikes so we chose a low difficulty road for this trip: the road between Mislea and Buștenari. It is a well-maintained road because it is the only access route to the oil wells in the Mislea, Buștenari and Scorțeni area.
The proposed segment is starting from the communal road 5C that connects the villages Mislea and Bușteanari from Prahova County. Basically we will get from Mislea to Buștenari but on a slightly longer route.
A few kilometers after the exit from Mislea we will reach an intersection in a “Y” shape where we will take it on the right road. From here the asphalt ends. The road is good enough, with enough gravel to make it practicable even in rainy weather or after several months of winter.
In the first part we will climb steadily, then a short descent, then we will climb again to almost 600m altitude and we will reach the ridge of a hill. So far the entire path is through the forest so we will not have too many vantage points but when we reach the highest point we will have the opportunity to see among the trees overlooking the surrounding hills.
A few kilometers after we started the descent, the road comes out of the forest and we can admire the scenery around us. The next few kilometers are a bit faster then we will meet an area with a slightly steeper descent, after which the road becomes relatively flat.
Along the way you will meet several intersections and if you have time you can explore the adjacent roads because they are quite good.
The last section before Buștenari is quite flat and fast, then for the last 1-2 km we will have a steep ascent with some hair pins until we reach the asphalt road that crosses the village of Buștenari.
