If you pass through the Bicaz Gorges area (https://2ride.eu/en/segment/s08-bicaz-gorges/) and you feel like riding offroad, a good option can be the road that goes up to Poina Stânile in the Ceahlău Mountains.

The road can be accessed from DN12C, from Bicazu Ardelean you will have to enter the county road 127A. Then in Telec the road forks and you will have to turn right on the communal road 138. At the end of the village the macadam road starts and after about 1 km we will reach a tourist information point. On the right side is the road proposed by us. Access on this road is only allowed if a fee is paid. If no one is at that kiosk, the fee can be paid at the vending machine in front of the entrance. The machine only receives cash.

The road is quite well paved so it can be ridden without problems in the rain. There are no areas where mud could form. In the first part of the route, the road winds through the forest on the bottom of a valley. We climb smoothly and steadily then we will come across a few tighter curves and the road starts to climb a little steeper. From time to time you can see the white rocks of Ceahlău.

Then, suddenly, we come out of the forest and in front of us opens an impressive landscape. We are in Poiana Stânile and in front of us the Ceahlău Massif is shown in all its splendor.

This is the perfect place for a longer stop or a photo shoot.

Further on, the road enters the forest again and we will climb a few more kilometers. Then the trees thin out and we reach the most spectacular part of the route. We will practically walk on the edge of the precipice on a 4-5 meter wide road and on the opposite side we have vertical rocks. The road ends on a relatively horizontal platform. To get here we will have about 100 m of steep climb with gravel and loose boulders.

This route is worth exploring, especially for the landscapes you will have on the top. During the summer and especially on weekends the road is quite crowded because it is a starting point for those who want to climb to Cabana Dochia or Toaca Peak.
