This segment is quite short, it has almost 9km round trip. But what we liked very much was the fact that at the end of it, right at the top of the mountain, there is a magnificent panorama that leaves you speechless.

The road starts right next to the Bolboci dam on the left bank of the Ialomița river valley. In a tight curve of the county road DJ 714 you will see indicator to the Podu cu Florile cottage.

On the first part, at a distance of about 2.5 km, it is easy to climb through the woods, without notable obstacles. Then, just as soon as you pass the cottage, after a 90-degree left turn, there is a short, more steep area where quite large puddles form that can be bypassed with care.

Slowly the trees crumble and soon the road leaves the forest. and the steep climb begins with some hair pins.

The last section of about 500m is the most difficult, a slightly more steep climb and many rocks and boulders. Fortunately, the stones are quite compacted and not so much detached as to make you skid with the rear wheel.

After the effort to climb this last part you will be rewarded by the 2 unique views from the top of the mountain. First, you can admire the former stone quarry. Hundreds of thousands of tons of stone were taken out from here for the construction of the Bolboci dam, the reason for building this road. Here the landscape is selenary, you find yourself in a great caldera guarded by rocks without a bit of vegetation.

After passing the quarry, you reach a flat area from which you can admire the incredible landscape with the Bucegi Mountains, Ialomiţa Valley and Bolboci Lake. On a clear day you can even see the relay from Costila in Bucegi Natural Park.
