The southeast of Dobrogea has a fairly flat relief. It’s just that from place to place you come across a canyon 50-70m deep, with rocky walls.
We partially covered this road at the bottom of the canyon in 2020 when I participated in the Dobrogea rally for the amateur class. So we decided to go back and explore the whole canyon.
We left the asphalt from the communal road 14, between Darabani and Vâlcele. The first part we rode near the canyon and bypassed its southern end. Then we returned to the other bank and near the village of Vâlcelele we descended about 50m level difference to the bottom of the valley.
From here we only rode along the valley. At first, with the exception of grass, there is no vegetation. The road is only covered with dirt and in some places it gets lost in the grass. The terrain is quite flat so you can ride near the road. After a few kilometers, after passing a spring where the cows drink water, we come across a grove. During spring, the landscape is very beautiful because in the forest, the ground is covered with a layer of white flowers. Watch out for the grass on the road because if it is wet it can be very slippery.
You will know that you are close to the end of the route when on the left, you will start to see houses. We arrived in the village of Cotu Văii and in a few kilometers we will get back to the asphalt.
The road is easy to ride but if it rains it will become extremely slippery.
