I was in Voineasa and Șerban was coming from the Frumoasa valley on Transcindrel. We agreed that we would meet somewhere in the middle of the route coming towards each other. I left Voineasa around 5 pm and entered the DJ105G county road. The first part of the road climbs gently along the banks of a river. The road is paved quite well, and on one segment they are working on leveling and consolidating the embankment. Then after a few kilometers, suddenly, the works area ends and the road becomes narrower and the valley seems darker.
At 10 km after we exited Voineasa we will reach an intersection in T and DJ105, is the road we follow continues to the left.
Immediately after the intersection we start to climb steadily. In the next 6Km we will climb from almost 1000m altitude to over 1500m. There are long, relatively steep sections of climb where you have to ride with determination because otherwise you risk stopping on the slope and it will be quite difficult to restart if you ride a big adventure bike. You will know that the first part of the climb is over when you reach a high voltage line and you will immediately see a hut.
A relatively flat section follows and then the last section of the climb begins. Here there will be a more difficult part: an ascent with a slope of about 15-20% with a winding ditch in the middle. If you cross this section, you have reached the highest area of the route, ie at over 1650m. Now on a portion of about 2Km we will go relatively horizontally, on the level line and you will have some open portions, with nice views.
About an hour had passed and I was expecting to meet Serban already, but I had no sign of him and no cell signal so far. I stopped and tried to call but nothing. Eventually I received an SMS telling me to go back because he had met a motorcyclist who told him that the road was difficult and that he did not recommend going alone. It’s just that I was already on top… So what to do … I decided to continue. If the road is just downhill, I should be able to get down. And indeed after a part of a steeper descent with a few hairpins, I reached the edge of a river. From here it is clear that if I follow the river, the road can not be too difficult. After about 11 km of road that descends smoothly and constantly we will intersect with the road from Valea Sadului.
This road is part of TET Romania. To the left we can reach Transalpina on the road called Transcindrel. You can find both roads in detail on our website.
I continued to the left towards Transcindrel and after a few kilometers I finally met Șerban. It was already 7.30 so the route this can be done in about 2 hours without stops.
