We are on the 2nd day after the end of the state of emergency. Some of the measures to prevent the spread of the SarsCoV2 virus have been lifted and, since yesterday, recreational activities are allowed outside the locality. So, after two months spent home, I decided to take a few hours for a motorcycle ride. I was looking for an offroad route as close as possible to Bucharest, so the hills north of Ploiești were the ideal option.
In the area around Câmpina and Moreni there are a lot of oil wells. Between them a network of gravel roads have been built for access and maintenance. The road presented today starts from Filipeștii de Pădure and crosses several hills to the town of Moreni.
Starting from the center of the village, the first 2-3 kilometers are paved and then, at the exit of the village, the asphalt disappears and we begin a gentle climb on the neighboring hills. The road is quite well maintained, without unevenness and you can ride at about 50 km / h.
After a few kilometers of climbing, on the right side, you will see a road that climbs a little steeper to the top of a hill. You can make a small detour because from there you will be able to admire the whole area within a radius of a few tens of kilometers.
Continuing further on the main road, we will advance a little on a valley and then at the first intersection we will take the road on the leftt. From here we climb on a road segment with a little more gravel. Then after passing the oil well from the top of the hill, the gravel disappears and we will have an dirt road for the next kilometers.
Near Moreni, I chose a route that passes through the forest and seems much less used by cars. We will have a slightly steeper descent through the forest, then after a few kilometers we will exit the forest right on the motocross circuit near Moreni.
From here we have an almost perfect gravel road until we reach the county road 710A that connects the town of Moreni with the town of Pucioasa.
If you have time, you can explore other roads on these hills because as you have noticed there are many oil wells, all connected by roads similar to the one we traveled.
