We discovered this route in the first motorcycle trip of 2022. At the beginning of March, I already had no more patience and in the first sunny Saturday with decent temperatures, I said it was time to try an offroad ride closer to the mountain area. We chose the hills west of Târgoviște because we knew that here there are many access roads to oil wells on all the hills in the area.
We left the village of Mănești where I had seen that there are several roads that go up the nearby hill. I chose one of the options and after a relatively short climb we arrived in a clearing on the top of the hill. From here the road almost disappears and we enter the forest. This is where things get interesting. I really liked this section because the road disappears completely in places and the layer of leaves doesn’t help at all because they hide the vague road marks, but also hide the slippery areas with mud. In the end we decided to just go ahead on top of the hill and see if we could get out somewhere.
And we were lucky. After about 6 Km we managed to come across a more “traveled” road. Here we decided to head back towards South in the direction of the villages we came from. This road we reached is very well maintained, it continues through the forest and it seems to be part of the network of exploitation roads for the oil wells.
Arriving somewhere near the village from which we had left, we decided to turn right onto another road that we crossed. It descends rapidly and we emerge into a clearing. From here the road continued to the south and it seemed that we would manage to reach somewhere near the village of Potocelu.
Only after not even 1km the road disappears. Again we decided to go forward as much as possible to see if we could reach Potocelu village. After almost 2 Km and about 2-3 crossings through the bed of the small stream, we came across a road again. We didn’t get to enjoy it too much because we came across a padlocked barrier. So we had to go back because a little further back we had crossed a road. This took us up the hill to the road we had turned right from earlier. A little more on this road and we came out onto the asphalt on county road 702A.
